Welcome to Teaching Drums. We provide creative music, African drumming, African games, live literature and storytelling workshops for children and adults. We can come to your school, library, community hall, nursing home, youth centre, staff room or your conference hall to share joy, laughter, and healing energy. Our founder and main workshop provider, Chief Chebe (a larger-than-life character) is an amazing human being, a fantastic teacher, great musician and the founder of the Glasgow African Balafon Orchestra. Chief Chebe is also a live literature author on the Scottish Book Trust Live Literature Database and he has an infectious style of fusing music with stories which makes both children and adults mesmerised with joy and laughter whilst learning new skills and memorable life experiences.

If you are experiencing low energy in your school or with your team and wish to create a super happy day for your school children or fellow staff members, Chief Chebe is the man to invite!

“The storytelling was fantastic and they were thrilled with the drumming and dancing. It was a great experience for them all which I’m sure they will remember for a long time – and Suleman’s laughter really brightened our days!” Jill Wright, Whitefield Primary

Fair Trade workshops for schools

“Just a quick note to say thank you both for the work you did with us last Thursday. The children and staff all thoroughly enjoyed themselves and it gave everyone a better chance to enjoy our Fairtrade activities from a different perspective this year. We greatly appreciate the work you both put in and the organisation and efficiency with which you ran the workshops. Thanks again for a great afternoon.” Clare Muir, St Lucy’s Primary, Cumbernauld.
